HARARE – Many small businesses in Zimbabwe have been forced to shut their doors due to the skyrocketing cost of internet.

Many business owners grew reliant on e-commerce platforms to keep their companies afloat during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Internet costs have increased significantly amid annual inflation unofficially estimated at around 1,000-percent.
The current inflation rates have made it almost impossible for consumers and households to access basic services, commute, or make a living using online platforms.
The main mobile network operator, Econet increased data prices last year.
The second-biggest mobile operator NetOne, which is owned by the state, also increased its prices by almost a hundred percent.
